About Derrick
Education and Work
Derrick is a graduate of Yale University and University of Southern California (USC) and is currently a senior manager of enterprise operations at Scale AI.
His background is in technology and product. Most recently, he was the Chief Operating Officer at a startup called Bild. Prior to that, he was a senior technical product manager at Amazon (AWS AI) and a software engineer at Apple. He’s also spent time as a venture capital associate with a focus on security, healthtech, fintech, and emerging technology such as AI/ML.
Photography and Videography
Derrick invests a significant amount of his free time to photography. He is an award winning photographer and has worked with a number of companies on photography and videography projects.
He is an avid Sony camera user and is part of the Sony professional photographer program. He enjoys all kinds of photography, but specializes in landscape, urban, and portrait photography. He is a licensed drone operator and primarily uses the DJI Mavic drone.
Design
While not a professional designer himself, Derrick loves to play with different software applications and is an avid user of Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator/InDesign, Cinema 4D, Figma, and Sketch. His interests range from graphic design to UI/UX design to 3D animation design.
